July 4th, 2018 marks the 26th anniversary of Chicago Hyde Park's annual "4th on 53rd Street Parade and Picnic”. This old fashioned parade is a family friendly event comprising of local residents, businesses, floats, high school marching band, and few political candidates.
The parade starts from the Hyde Park Bank Parking lot and begins south on Lake Park, continues east on 55th Street, turns north on South Hyde Park Boulevard, turns west on 53rd Street and ends at the Nichols Park located at 1355 E. 53rd Street to music, food, fun, and family activites.
